Temperament
It is true that training and handling by a responsible owner can yield the results of a dog with a magnificent temperament, good with children, and other dogs. Proved by animals in service at seach and rescue, medical ‘pat dogs’ and trustworthy family pets across the world.

We at Rubrics, promote responsible dog ownership, and encourage new owners to socialise your new dog as a puppy and whenever possible, with other dogs, people, children (always supervised) and all situations. Training classes provide an excellent resource for this and give the new owner the tools and techniques for a happy long term dog-owner relationship.
Any well exercised, well fed (but not overweight), dog with a job to do is a recipe for success in long term ownership, health and family integration. We encourage you to find out about your dogs type and history, whatever the breed, and supply an outlet for that dog’s natural instinct and energy levels, such as retrieving, hearding carrying or pulling.
The Rottweilers natural instinct is loyalty and protection. Any ‘rottie’ would have to be trained (or severly mishandled) to attack as they are docile and gentle creatures by nature. They can barge through doorways or knock over children (or adults) with their sheer size, strength and exuberance for life. So, with this in mind a firm hand is needed. You don’t have to have a golden gloves award to be able to handle an adult Rottweiler, as many smaller framed women owners will tell you, but building a trusting relationship through kindness and a firm routine has yielded many perfect pets for families worldwide.
