Humber Quays and Arena sites are close by but each with distinctive site conditions which requires separate design approach and flood risk strategy. Due to close approximately of two sites, there is a potential for pedestrian connection of two. Proposed flood defences along the southern boundary of Humber Quays not only provide parking spaces on the ground floor but also creates two different types of bankside platforms, in order to encourage riverside activities. On the other hand, courtyard type development is proposed for Hull arena site in order to create the sense of community within the development as the site itself was surrounded by industrial buildings.
The wetland in the centre of the site will play more than just an aesthetic role in the community, and to bringing residents together to nature, enjoy, nourishing community bonds and more importantly mitigate flood risk with its ability to absorb water when necessary.
